A king ought to shear, not skin, his sheep…

A timely quote from English poet Robert Herrick.

The burning fire which was to become America was started by the kindling of several external injustices against the English colonists. One of which was unfair taxation.

The purpose of taxes is to support the legitimate functions of government, which include maintaining public order, public infrastructure, and public security. The American people need to be alleviated from the governmental pillaging of their pocketbooks, and taxes must be levied for legitimate purposes.

For instance, everyone with an automobile pays a tax that is supposed to help pay for and maintain their roads. This is levied through a tax on gasoline or property tax on your vehicle. The scandal against the American Public is that the residents of one state, say North Carolina, pay their tax in their gasoline, but these funds may actually be sent to foreign public projects, like a light rail system in Minnesota! Why should one American have money taken from their pocket to pay for a project or utility they will never benefit from? That is highway robbery, if you pardon the pun.

Another example of the illegitimate use of taxes is to redistribute income. 50-60% of the money you pay in taxes are what’s known as Transfer Payments, simply put: the money you earned is transferred from your pocket to to someone who did not earn it. In 2006, 1.26 TRILLION dollars, 46% of the entire federal budget, went to Social Security alone!

Chris Edwards, Director of Tax Policy Studies at the Cato Institute cites that one of the five basic activities of government spending is “transferring wealth to favored groups.” My fellow Americans: What would you rather do, let the government transfer your wealth to a ‘favored’ group, or let you transfer it to your children or charitable cause of your choice?

The other illegitimate function behind today’s tax code that is creeping through our great nation is the legal theft of monies from people who are the greater producers to, once again, redistribute it to others who did not earn it. One example is the progressive property tax. Property taxes on homes is supposed to be allocated for the support the infrastructure of a development, town, or city, including public services like roads, water projects, and so on. Several states have moved to a progressive property tax where you can have two neighbors, side by side, in identical houses pay different tax rates. For example, let’s say you live in a development where the average home is $200,000. Your household income is $90,000 per year, and your neighbor’s household income is $45,000. You can get stuck paying twice the tax utilizing the same footprint for services.

My fellow Americans, we must stop the insanity and restore the American Dream and let Americans keep what they earn, and “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” that is, the legitimate functions of government.

Thanks for Listening. God Bless you, and may God continue to Bless the United States of America.

  1. Anthony-

This is the one are where my conservative roots are openly vulnerable. I am not against any of the examples you have offered. The only way your examples are truly illegitimate is if they are truly illegal, and by the sound of it, the government is legally dispersing taxes as they see fit for the betterment of our economic structure. It is a legitimate function of the government to “transfer wealth” to where it sees fit. The only way I could agree with your proposed insanity is if you could prove their actions illegal.
