17 Pregnant Girls and a Soccer Ball

This piece comes to me by way of a friend who adamantly agrees with the “America is Decaying” mantra.

He writes:

Here’s more evidence of the decline of America as we know it. Did you read the story of the 17 school girls, none of whom was over the age of 16, in Gloucester Massachusetts who made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Children having children. Back in the day … the age of innocence … there was a certain amount of shame associated with a high school girl getting pregnant. A girl who was “in a family way” was usually spirited off in the night to give birth and the baby was put up for adoption. Now I’m not saying that we haven’t progressed as a society and we should feel some compassion for a young girl who gets pregnant because her parents failed to tell her how her reproductive organs work but a premeditated pregnancy pact. And to add insult to injury, one of the fathers is a 24 year old homeless guy. Now that’s improving the gene pool, not to mention that little statutory rape thing. And where do we find the Geneses of a bunch of children who don’t even know enough not to fry bacon in the nude making a pregnancy pact? How about the Murphy Brown celebration of having a child out of wedlock … about the same time that a bunch of liberal leaning parents decided that soccer should be the sport of choice for our children. We no longer have any concept of consequences of our behavior or respect for our fellow human beings, or other peoples’ property or ourselves for that matter. Stop the world, I want off!!!

Thank you my friend, well said.

We pondered yesterday about when all of this mess began with the downfall of America. I was blind to think it started with the Clinton’s and “Political Correctness.” However, my friend pointed out that it all began with the Soccer Ball.

Yes, the Soccer Ball and the Soccer Mom and the philosophy that the great American sport of FOOTBALL was too rough and too hard for little Johnnie. And worse, Football left poor little Suzie in a mini-skirt and pom-poms cheering from the sidelines.

The revolution of Soccer in America began in the ’80s. And, the parents of those Soccer kids needed to boost their child’s ego by enrolling them in a sport where winning and losing didn’t matter any more.

Well, let me tell you, one of the first things I taught my son when he stepped onto the Soccer field in 1999 at the ripe age of 5, was to take a run at the goalie every chance he could!

I was chastised by my now ex-wife, but there was no way I was going to let my son grow up to be a Soccer Sissy when his father was a local football over-achiever 30 years prior!

I played football, just as many others in this area did. Names like Montana, Ditka, Kotar, Marino, Kelley, and Unitas are names that line the walls of local high schools here in Pittsburgh. My son would never have the chance to be a football great, because knee pants football in this area was dead and buried by the black and white (or pink and blue) soccer ball.

But, as I dwelt on our conversation yesterday, it hit me later that evening that I could take the fall of America back even further. The parents of those 80’s soccer kids were the product of or participants in Woodstock and the hippie movement where love and peace prevailed over war and common sense. It was those hippies that would grow up to raise these little soccer champs to believe that they don’t need to win to have fun, but rather just playing where we wont keep score is what matters.

Freaking Hippies!

So, the Decay of the American Society can be traced back to Kent State, LSD, and Jane Fonda. Can you perhaps take it back even further?

What’s Wrong America? Freaking Hippies is what’s wrong!

  1. Hey Xavier! Wow, talk about insanity! I would seriously wonder what the demographics of these girls were if you looked to see if (1) they had a father in the home, (2) they had a nuclear family relationship, where the parents stood together and raised them understanding family roles and (3) if the parents had an active role in their lives, teaching them basic Judeo-Christian values that centered on the family.

One of my greatest fears is the dumbing-down of family mores (that’s mor-Ay’s), personal responsibility, and thinking outside the self. THESE are the people that will be taking care of us in our old age; THESE are the people that will be our leaders (if the Republic does not fall) and THESE are the people who are entrusted to guard civilization for another generation, and despite what liberals argue, civilization’s hub is that of the FAMILY - without the family, civilization WILL fall.

Behavior like this should frighten America more than bird flu, more than Islamo-facism, more than the next goth-garbed schoolhouse killer. This is our FUTURE if we are not diligent in stopping it in its tracks, from the root.

May the next American President protect the institution of the family for the sake of Western civilization, and the future of the world, as long as it lasts.

  2. How do you two feel about your vice presidential candidate having a teenage daughter pregnant–’Gasp’ an unwed teenage mother. Where did her parents go wrong. Possibly in teaching abstinence only to a teenager?

  3. Hey Shak! Thanks for your comment…

First of all, you’re making an assumption that Sarah is “my” vice-presidential candidate… I’m an equal opportunity criticizer here… neither party has my full attention… until now, that is, now that you mention it…

Coming from a Christian worldview, in a fallen world, I guess … people are sinners, and people will continue to sin. Did we over Al Gore’s son having to go to rehab on a marijuana charge after getting caught speeding over 100mph? Why did he slide and Sarah Palin is being dragged through the streets?

And considering how many American mothers are having to deal with unwed daughters getting pregnant, attacking an everyday mother for the behavior of her 17-year-old daughter is an attack on all the mothers of our great nation, which I feel is a very unwise move the Democratic and liberal media engine is playing… they are telling all American mom’s in this situation they are unfit.

I still, for the life of me, don’t understand the criticism of abstinence only teaching… It’s like saying, “Hey, put this cooking pot on your head and let’s play Russian Roulette… Even if you DO manage to fire off a bullet, odds are you MIGHT not die!

Maybe it’s because I have 5 family members who have fatherless children because they decided against abstinence only.

Maybe because I lost three friends from AIDS 2 of them heterosexual, because they did not believe in abstinence only.

Maybe because I have seven friends with eighteen beautiful adopted children between them, because eighteen young men and women didn’t believe in abstinence only…

    Maybe… maybe.

  4. Well, how do I feel?

Again, I must reinforce that I think it is not exactly what my original article was referencing. My original artical was about 17 girls who DELIBERATELY went out and challenged each other to get pregnant.

I dont think that an unexpected pregnancy, of a 17 year old Alaskan girl is something that we all need to go insane over.

Lets think about the culture differences that exist in the Alaskan small town where Sarah lives. For all intents and purposes, life in Alaska is completely different than it is here in the lower 48. I researched this and the average age of first time marriages for women in Alaska is 19.2, whereas in the USA it is 22.6 years. So women in Alaska settle down a lot earlier than those in the USA.

How do I feel about it? Frankly, it never even phased me. I don’t think that her being pregnant at 17 has any bearing what so ever on this Vice President candidate. The candidate more than makes up for any lack of good paranting the Democrats want you to think exists simply by exuding increadible amounts of conservitive values, far beyond what anyone the Democrats will throw at us will have.

How do I feel? MCCAIN / PALIN : I’M IN!
