My Fellow Americans: No one but liberal politicians (socialists) will deny that the tax code for the United States of America is in dire need of reform. There have been attempts in the past to “reform”, the tax code, but usually to America’s detriment. When was the term “tax simplification” ever not an oxymoron?
An American president will argue that the tax code does not need reform, but replacement. Today’s American tax code is a hodge-podge of arcane and unnavigable rules that cause undue hardship on the American taxpayer. The most sensible solution to America’s tax situation today is already on the table, and has been since 1995… It is called the Fair Tax.
The Fair Tax Bill is considered the most researched and documented piece of tax legislation to ever be brought in front of the U.S. Congress. Over $25 million has been spent on research, market studies and feasibility of passing this law.
The Fair Tax will replace the income, payroll, corporate, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum tax, and self-employment taxes with a single national retail sales tax. Critics of the Fair Tax have had plenty of time to make their case against it, and they have failed. It’s time to replace the IRS!!!
Why should the Internal Revenue Code be discarded? Let’s run off a few points:
- To file their 2008 Income Taxes, Americans (that’s you) spent about $300 billion on tax preparation costs! That’s on top of the $1.5 trillion Americans actually paid in taxes. To put this in perspective, your tax bill from last year, calculate 20% from that, and think how you would like to have that in your pocket, and not the government’s!
- 20% of all taxes collected are not spent on running the government: they are spent running the IRS. This is known as your “Tax compliance costs”. That is, the cost of doing the business of collecting your hard-earned money. That’s $300 Billion out of $1.5 Trillion of your tax dollars, not your income, being spent on running a huge inefficient portion of American government.
- The current system requires 7 billion man-hours per year to comply with all the forms. That’s the equivalent of 3 million Americans working full time to perform the tax system ’s busywork — filing, accounting, reporting, and litigating.
The business of the American Taxpaper is not to keep the government in business: It’s your duty as an American to earn an honest wage, and keep as much of it as you can in your pocket, not the government’s. You pay the government to help you keep what you have, not take what you earn.
For more information, visit the Fair Tax website: Americans for Fair Taxation. And try the “Dare to Compare” calculator. I found that under the Fair Tax system, I would have saved $1,240 last year. That’s over $100/month. What would YOU do if someone gave you another $100 per month? Maybe elect them to office?
Please read more on how the Fair Tax bill will be better for America, and better for you, the American Taxpayer and see that your vote for president in the American election goes to an American President. One who wants American Dollars in American pockets.
My fellow Americans, Thanks for listening. This is Anthony Navarro. Goodnight. And God Bless the United States of America.
